The phone rings, someone from church is on the line, and suddenly you are patient and kind. A minute ago you were snapping at your own husband or wife. Who actually gets to see Christ in you?

You are blamed for something you didn’t do, and the one who did it stands right there saying nothing. Everything in you wants to hit back. Peter once watched Someone in that exact moment do something completely different.

The builders looked at one stone and tossed it aside: it doesn’t fit. God built everything on that very Stone. And you may be trying, right now, to trim Him down to fit your life.

“Is this technically wrong?” may be the wrong question. The world does not need to make you deny Christ. It only needs to shape you, slowly, until you no longer look like Him.
